Jagua After-Care:

  • Allow 1-2 hours to dry the jagua paste completely.

  • Strictly no messing or smudging jagua when it is still wet and not dry. Smudging will cause the smudge stain remain on skin.

  • Once dried, leave the paste on skin upto 2 hours. Let the dried jagua fall off on its own, if its not secured with me-fix tape. Wash off remaining jagua with water after 2 hours.

  • At this stage, your skin will have no signs of tattoo, thats scary , isnt it ? Lol.. but dont worry moisturize your hands well and let the magic begin :)

  • Allow 12-36 hours to reach final stage, this is stain development phase, make sure that the tattooed area doesn't come in contact with other skin area at this time, if it does it may stain other skin areas too ( to avoid this you can cover the tattoo area with gloves or pair or cloth.

  • This is the time when the stain gradually starts to show up from blurry jagua tattoo to dark blueish-black stain.

  • Thats the magic of jagua.

  • During the stain development, avoid hot water or sauna on the tattooed area.

FAQS on Jagua

  1. How is Jagua different than henna?

  • Jagua does not need to stay on the skin as long as henna does; 2 hours is sufficient for jagua.

  2. Are there any side effects to using jagua?

No. But do keep in mind that jagua is a fruit. People with fruit sensitivities (and everyone else) should do a small patch test before attempting a full-size tattoo.

 3. If I keep the gel on my skin longer than two hours, will I get a darker stain?

Two hours is sufficient to obtain the darkest color. Leaving it on longer will not yield a darker or longer-lasting stain.

 4. How does jagua work to stain the skin?

The juice of the jagua fruit is a blue-black color; it works just like a natural dye. It is applied on the skin, and must be left on for two hours to get the optimal stain. Peel off the dried jagua gel and wait 48 hours for the color to fully develop. Stain will appear very light at first, but this is normal!

 5. Is jagua the same as black henna?

Jagua is a fruit that grows in the Amazon. Black henna doesn’t grow anywhere! Simply put, it does not exist. The stuff on the market called “black henna” is a synthetic compound containing industrial dyes (like PPD), inks, or chemicals—all of them potentially harmful to the skin. We strongly recommend that you stay away from so-called black henna mixtures.

6. How long does Jagua stain lasts?

Stain usually lasts for 7-10 days, depending on how you take care of stain, if you are scrubbing the stain or in contact with chlorinated water or pool the stain will fade quickly.
